My Lenten Backpack

Lenten Backpack:

My Lenten Backpack is a special bag to help me on my journey. During Lent we focus on prayer, fasting and Almsgiving. The Cross reminds me that Jesus sacrificed his life for our sins. The Holy Bible and Rosary will help me in my prayer. My fasting is for meat and the water is for Almsgiving so the poor can have their thirst quenched.

Our Ki O Rahi tournament

Dear Diary,                                                                                  

Last Friday, Mr.

Bell told all of us from Room 7 that we needed to participate in the Ki O Rahi tournament against other schools but some didn’t come to take part in the Ki O Rahi tournament because they really wanted to finish the Matariki star facts (I think that’s what they want to do.)

When we got changed into our sports uniform (the same uniform gosh why is it the same uniform) anyway we grabbed everything like our bags, lunch boxes and water bottles. When Mr. Bell told us to get into one of the cars, we got Mrs. Ripata’s car,(Marii’s Mom’s car), everything was so gorgeous. The window was huge, clean and we sang songs in the car and Marii was so lucky that I finally found my dream car.

 When we got to the Ki O Rahi tournament all the other schools were already there. We spread out our mat and put down our bags. We quietly lined up and got ready for prayers before the game started.  

When the game started the referee told all of us to go to field 1 (I think that’s what the referee told us) and we were going against Sylvia Park Blue and we are Ki Oma and our Opponent/Sylvia Park Blue is Taniwha for our first game.

During our first game the referee told all of us to switch sides so we swap to take turns and we finish taking turns. When we are finished taking turns we are now Taniwha. I also went there too so I can also get a turn in the Ki O Rahi tournament and only have 3 points and Our Opponent/Sylvia Park Blue has 8 points so we are losing for the first time and some of us were saying “GG’s (Good Game)” to the other team.

Our Second Game was going against Glen Taylor Stars and when we were on the lead until the other team was now on the lead we were all nervous and we really needed to try harder but then we lost again for the second time and I was getting really worried about losing for the third time. 

Now we’re going against Tamaki Ikale and we hope that we win for the first time. Our third game was actually kinda going really good this time and we felt that we were now winning for the first time. And we did! We cheered for Tamaki Ikale, cheered for us and cheered for the referee. We were really happy! Then Mr. Bell told us to stay and watch the next game so that we could learn how to play Ki O Rahi properly.

We learned more by watching the other teams play Ki O Rahi properly.(But I just noticed that we lost 2 times already so I hope that we would win 2 times too!). Anyway I need to try and tell Pio Teo to get the Ki (How do you spell it?.)

During the next game, we scored 9 points and our opponent Panmure Road Taniwha got 6 points but then the referee whistled. We won for the second time and we were really and really happy about it. We have to rest now and eat our food and drink our water and watch some more games so that we can learn more about it.

When all the games are finished we have to pray to thank God for looking after us in the Ki O Rahi tournament.

When we were done with our prayers we said goodbye to all the schools and went back to Mrs. Ripata’s car and she drove us back to our school. 

We all had a fantastic time playing in the Ki O Rahi tournament with other schools. I hope we can all play again in the next tournament.

Kamusta! My name is Roland and this is me

And I am a Year 6 and my age is 11 and I’m in Room 7.

It was gonna be 2024 I was kinda scared to go to Room 7 and the Teacher’s name is Mr. Bell when we have to say good bye to Mrs. Agnew I felt sad that I will miss my old class Room and now going to my new Room when we went inside I remember when we did our Summer Learning Journey when we were gonna compete in the SLJ (Summer Learning Journey) and I wasn’t in the Leaderboard and that was okay.

But anyways when we got there I was surprised that it was fun here. There is even a big green table which where Me, Graziel and Patrick are sitting.

We got to sit at the green table Graziel was anxious because Patrick was here and I felt happy at this green table.

When the bell rang I was now anxious because of the bell and I had almost finished my work but then Mr. Bell said we got to go in for morning tea. when I got outside and got my morning tea I went to Graziel and said can we play cheese touch and yes so at least that I’m happy now. when we play cheese touch we have to choose who to pick to get the cheese touch so we did Inky Pinky so that we could play. When all my classmates got chosen to get out so that they don’t get the cheese touch.

When they got out it was only me and Pyro and when one of us got out I got out and that was so so close.

When Pyro got the cheese touch we got to run away from Pyro that has a cheese touch we need to run from him so we went to hide. When he was done counting to 30 we saw him and so we tried to run faster then him but he cheese touched one of us and it was Graziel so now we have to get away from her now.

When Graziel keeps on getting us then the bell rang so I said last one there is a rotten egg so all of us went in there and I thought I was the rotten egg but I came in 1st place and all of them just keep on walking like they were tired. When Mr. Bell (our teacher) was unlocking the door that we were supposed to be going in so that we could finish our work for Spelling, Reading and Writing.

When we went in I went to wash my hands when suddenly everyone instead they just went to there table accept Graziel and Pyro because when I saw all of my classmates faces just got anxious.

When we finished our stuff for our blog we told Mr. Bell to play silent ball the bell just rang and I was anxious and we had to go home. When we went to line up I forgot that I have to go to the office to sit down so I said good bye to my best friends and my classmates and go sit down.

When I sat down I felt that I needed to go to the toilet so I went to  Mrs. Thompson to go to the toilet and she said and I said thank you to Mrs. Thompson and went to the toilet. When I flush the toilet I wash my hands and dry them with a paper towel and go back to sit down and then I see my standing there waiting for me. I said hi to my Mom. I said good bye to Mrs. Thompson and my Mom and I walked all the way home.

St Patricks Day (Holiday)

Yesterday my brother and I were at home, because I was sick and got an eye that hurt. Once we were at home I was bored in my house so I told my brother to eat. While my brother got out of his room he went to the kitchen and gave me food. As he gave me the food he went to the kitchen to get food as well to eat. When my brother got his food he went to his room, and started eating his food really fast. Just after he started finishing his food and went to my Mom’s room and said Mum you need to go to work then Mum went and changed her clothes. When she was done changing she and my brother went to the car.
